Haut Gap Back to School Donations - Update

Thank you for the donations which have already come in and please continue to give generously, our teachers are in need of our help and support. Each August St. John's Parish Church supports back to School at Haut Gap Middle. Due to state mandates and to include choices for students, Haut Gap teachers are working on 3 options for this year: 1) full time classroom, 2) part time classroom and 3) total virtual learning. This makes it difficult to know the needs of each teacher.

This year, in lieu of supply bags, we are asking for donations to provide the teachers with $50 gift cards to help each teacher purchase exactly what he or she needs. As in the past, individuals or families may want to share the cost or simply send a donation towards a gift card. In light of recent changes for CCSD and Haut Gap, requiring teachers to spend more time in a virtual teaching environment, please consider a gift card from the website,

If you feel led to donate by check marked "for Haut Gap" or a $50 gift card (from Staples or Office Depot), please mail, by August 28th, to: St. Johns Parish Church P.O. Box 125 Johns Island, SC 29457. Or go to and share a gift card by email or print at home and send to St. John's Parish Church.

Most importantly, keep the staff, teachers, and administrators of Haut Gap, and all area schools in your prayers, as they work to provide the best education experiences possible. Also, pray for the parents and students as they make difficult decisions regarding the best options for their families.
Thank you for your love and support for our school partner! If you have questions, please call, Peggy Gervais at 843 830 4504.

Every Sunday morning at 11:30am we post a new Bible story on Facebook. Mr. Rob and Mrs. Pam have done a great job reaching our youngest parishioners with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Will Klauber, Called to be the Rector
at Good Shepherd

Brothers and sisters, grace and peace to you. Last week I received, and accepted, a call to be the rector at Good Shepherd in West Ashley. This is a call which has evolved rather quickly, but I feel that it has certainly been done in wisdom and with the guidance of the Holy Spirit. It was only a month ago that I responded in faith to a nudge from Fr. Greg and the Lord to submit to the process of discernment there. In a short period of time it was clear that the Lord was working in this process. My family and I have loved our time at both St. John's and with the people of St. Aidan's. I would ask that you keep us in your prayers during this transition. I will cherish the memories of lives transformed for the Gospel during my time with St. Aidan's and St. John's forever. I have grown immensely as a disciple and leader of God's people during this season. Thank you for all you have done to support and love our family. Know that we are just a bridge away, and that we look forward to continuing to do Gospel ministry together with all of you for as long as God would have us.

For Persecuted Churches - Vietnam

We pray for persecuted churches around the world.
For the month of August, we pray for the nation of Vietnam.

Heavenly Father, we ask for your mercy upon Christian brothers and sisters who face great need in the Covid-19 crisis. Amongst persecution from the government, Christians are also not receiving necessary aid. Please provide for and protect Christians in Vietnam.
Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Prayers for Healing

May we who are merely inconvenienced

Remember those whose lives are at stake.

May we who have no risk factors

Remember those most vulnerable.

May we who have the luxury of working from home

Remember those who must choose between preserving their health or making their rent.

May we who have the flexibility to care for our children when their schools close

Remember those who have no options.

May we who have to cancel our trips

Remember those that have no safe place to go.

May we who are losing our margin money in the tumult of the economic market

Remember those who have no margin at all.

May we who settle in for a quarantine at home

Remember those who have no home.

As fear grips our country,

let us choose love.

During this time when we cannot physically wrap our arms around each other,

Let us yet find ways to be the loving embrace of God to our neighbors.

Increase, O God, the spirit of neighborliness among us,
that in peril we may uphold one another,
in suffering tend to one another,
and in homelessness, loneliness, or exile befriend one another.
Grant us brave and enduring hearts that we may strengthen
one another,
until the disciplines and testing of these days are ended,
and you again give peace in our time;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
