Altar Flowers

The altar flowers of Jan. 3 were given to the glory of God.
St. John's Altar Flower Ministry designs new flower creations each week for Sunday services. Flowers are individually selected and prepared on Friday. The cost to dedicate flowers is $70 for both vases or $40 for one. We are now taking bookings for 2021. Contact Sally Dixon ( 843-709-4894) or complete the dedication form inside the Church entryway.

Annual Meeting Jan. 17

On January 17 there will be two simultaneous worship services at 9 a.m., one in the Church and the other in Walton Hall. The annual parish meeting will follow the 9 a.m. services in Walton Hall. Voting will take place from 9 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Voting must be in person, either during the 9 a.m. Walton Hall service, during the annual meeting, or from your car. A Vestry member will be outside of Walton Hall to distribute ballots to drive-up voters.

Ballots will then be counted at 10:45 a.m. and results declared for the new 2021 Vestry class and for the delegates to serve at the annual Diocesan Convention in March and at the Special Convention to elect a Bishop Co-Adjutor in October. There will be no proxy voting and we have not planned to stream the annual meeting.

We will send further details regarding vestry nominations, convention delegates, and ballots in a separate Email Announcement.

The Epiphany Jan. 6
The Manifestation of Christ to the Gentiles
O God, by the leading of a star you manifested your only Son to the peoples of the earth: Lead us, who know you now by faith, to your presence, where we may see your glory face to face; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.
Sunday, Jan. 10
The Baptism of Our Lord
Eternal Father, at the baptism of Jesus you revealed him to be your Son, and your Holy Spirit descended upon him like a dove: Grant that we, who are born again by water and the Spirit, may be faithful as your adopted children; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.

For Persecuted Churches

We pray for persecuted churches around the world. For the month of January we pray for the nation of Somalia. Heavenly Father, Christians and Christian churches in Somalia are suffering due to violence, extreme Islamic persecution, and civil war. We lift them up in your Holy Name, asking for your mercy to surround them. We pray for the Christian churches in Somalia to persevere through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Lord, in your mercy: Hear our prayer.
