Shrove Tuesday, Feb. 16
Celebrate Fat Tuesday with pancakes and trivia. We will use GoToMeeting online at 6:30 p.m. to enjoy home-cooked pancakes together. But before you eat those pancakes, decorate them for the best pancake contest, and don't forget to take photos. We will vote online for the best-looking pancakes. Children's trivia begins at 7 p.m., followed by trivia for adults. Send your photos to media@stjohnsparish.net for posting on the website.
Families wishing to join in the GoToMeeting pancake and trivia gathering should contact Fr. Jeremy by text or email (843-364-9381, frjeremy@stjohnsparish.net) to receive the meeting link.

A Lenten Teaching
Watch for our Lenten teaching on Facebook. We will post each week through Lent.
Lent is an important reminder that God's love is strong enough to take away our sins. Lent opens our eyes shows us our weaknesses and our temptations. Through those challenges, God's wonderful grace can be revealed to us more fully. Let's not miss this Lent's opportunity to start a new facet of our relationship with Jesus. We demonstrate our repentance by receiving the ashes, spending a little more time in prayer, and reconciling with others.

Collects
Sunday, Feb. 7
O Lord, our heavenly Father, keep your household the Church continually in your true religion, that we who trust in the hope of your heavenly grace may always be defended by your mighty power; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, now and for ever. Amen.

For Persecuted Churches
We pray for persecuted churches around the world. For the month of February we pray for the nation of Myanmar. Heavenly Father, Christians and Christian churches in Myanmar are suffering due to violence, insurrection, persecution, and political upheaval. We lift them up in your Holy Name, asking for your mercy to surround them. We pray for the Christian churches in Myanmar to persevere through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Lord, in your mercy: Hear our prayer.
