Little League Baseball

We are sponsoring the Barrier Islands Little League this year. Our team, the St. John's Parish Angels are playing two games a week. It is expected that 6-700 children will be playing and counting all the relatives, thousands of people are involved and volunteering. We are ask that you pray for all of them.

Clean Up and Palm Crosses

March 27, starting at 9 am.
Come out and join us for the annual church spring cleaning day in preparation for Palm Sunday. Bring your rakes, clippers and any small trailer. Water will be provided.

We will also be making Palm crosses in Walton Hall at 9 a.m. and looking for volunteers to help. Contact Sally Dixon in the office.

Thank You from OLM!

The staff at OLM were overwhelmed by St John's generosity. Walt dropped the donations at their food bank last week and noted that their cupboards have never been so bare. They were SO happy. Thanks to everyone who has been donating.

Haut Gap Teachers Grateful

Haut Gap teachers and staff were overwhelmed with the Kleenex and paper towel donations and very grateful!

Also, Haut Gap and Johns Island elementary schools were able to receive their first vaccine on March 9! Thanks be to God!

Remember Your Lenten Prayer Partner

Send a card to your prayer partner and on Easter reveal to them it was you praying for them throughout Lent. You can get them a little gift if you like, a card, a note, flowers, a prayer journal, these are all ways you can reveal yourself. However you choose please be sure to let them know you were their prayer partner. Encourage children and adults to continue to keep their "chosen" person and others in their prayers, spend some time getting to know that person in a special way.

"God, please be especially close to (Lenten Prayer Partner) today. Help them to know You, love You and serve You. Help them resist any temptations they may face today, and bring them through any struggles they may currently be dealing with. Please help me to be a positive influence and encouragement to others as I draw near to you and inspire and encourage them to do the same."

March Mission Madness Month

Uganda Scholarships

We are not quite ready to have our Mission Oyster Roast ... well, we are all MORE than ready...but the children of clergy in The Diocese of Northern Uganda still need schooling. Please consider a scholarship this year for a clergy child to go to a Christian school. A scholarship of $150 for a year's tuition in Uganda is comparable to the $8,000 average Christian school here. What a wonderful gift to that child, their family and to the community, keeping Christian education alive for the Diocese. You may make a check out to St John's with scholarship in the memo line or Click here to give online.

Easter Lilies

Please return your order form by March 21.

A Lenten Teaching

Here is the video of the service on Mar. 17

This teaching will stream live at 8 p.m. Wednesdays during Lent. Each 20-minute session will include Compline and teaching. Each session will be recorded and available for streaming on demand through our website and mobile app.
Tish Harrison's book is not required, but is available through Amazon.

Encourage Lieber Inmates this Easter

You will find the collection basket for your cards on Saturdays when you collect your Communion kit and Sunday in Walton Hall. Monday-Wednesday you can bring your cards to Guerry Hall. The last date for collection of the cards will be Sunday, March 21, 2021.

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son so that whoever believed in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

Please share the love of Christ with inmates at Lieber Correctional Unit. We are his beloved children and few men at Lieber know this, most do not have our hope and love of Jesus Christ.

Please remember that cards should have no adornments (such as ribbons or stickers), you should not sign your full name (please use either your first name or "a friend") and do not seal cards since they must be screened for security.

PRAYERS

Altar Flowers

Flowers were given to the glory of God and in memory of
my Mum and Dad and Peter Ritchie, by Jacky Seabrook.
St. John's Altar Flower Ministry designs new flower creations each week for Sunday services. Flowers are selected individually and prepared on Friday. The cost to dedicate flowers is $70 for two vases or $40 for one. Contact Sally Dixon (sdixon@stjohnsparish.net, 843-709-4894) to sign up for the Sunday of your choice.
The flower delivery guild needs volunteers to deliver flowers in accord with COVID protocols. If you have delivered flowers in the past, or would like to join that ministry, please contact Sally Dixon.

At St. John's

Collect

Passion Sunday, Mar. 21
Almighty God, you alone can bring into order the unruly wills and affections of sinners: Grant your people grace to love what you command and desire what you promise; that, among the swift and varied changes of this world, our hearts may surely there be fixed where true joys are to be found; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

For Persecuted Churches

We pray for persecuted churches around the world. For the month of March we pray for the nation of China. Heavenly Father, Christians and Christian churches in China are suffering due to Communist and post-Communist oppression, agnosticism, authoritarian rule, and restrictions that limit Christian worship. We pray for the Christian churches in China to continue to grow despite all these persecutions. Enliven their spirits by the power of the Holy Spirit. Lord, in your mercy. Hear our prayer.
