Dear Saints of St. John's,

Grace and Peace to you this Ascensiontide!

Over the last 14 months you all have shown your concern and care and love for one another by wearing masks indoors and by social distancing. With the new guidelines issued by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the lifting of mask mandates by our governor, it is no longer necessary for those who are fully vaccinated and healthy to take these precautions. We hope and pray that this condition will last for many years to come, although it is possible that the constantly mutating variants of the virus will require us to be masked sometime again in the future. Furthermore, there are still those among us who have not chosen to be or who are unable to be vaccinated (mostly youth and children under the age of 16, although this will hopefully change in the months ahead). And there may be times of the year, such as flu season, that those more vulnerable among us may choose to wear masks. So we need to continue to be thoughtful and loving to those who may remain masked and social distance. Also, as before, if you are feeling sick, please stay home; you can worship with us online at 9 am and/or we can bring you Holy Communion.
In his address to the clergy yesterday during the reaffirmation of our ordination vows, Bishop Lawrence expressed his pride in the clergy of the diocese for our quick decision-making and adaptation during the course of this virus. I pass that pride along to you, my brothers and sisters. Your staff has been amazing in their innovation and willingness to adapt over the last 14 months. During this stressful time period, we have not ceased to worship every Sunday, although at times it was on-line. We have added folks from all over the U.S, indeed all over the world, to our worship, and have a large and enthusiastic group who worship together with Morning Prayer every weekday. Blessings have abounded in the midst of separation, loss, and even death over the lasts 14 months. Thank you for your patience and loving care of one another. It has been glorious to behold!
In Christ,
Fr. Greg+

Grace Chapel Summer Season Begins

Starting Sunday June 6 at 9 a.m. through to August 29, Grace Chapel will be open for in-person service. Please observe Covid protocols.

Volunteer at Camp St. Christopher

St. Christopher is still in dire need of help in the food service area. As of now Camp St. Christopher needs 2 to 3 more volunteer people at any one time to assist with the meals. St. Christopher welcomes volunteers that only want to volunteer once or are willing to make a regular commitment over several weeks for a particular meal on a particular day. The most urgent need for help is with the evening meal, to alleviate the extended and additional days currently being required of the regular staff.

If you feel a calling to service at St. Christopher, please contact The Rev. Robert Lawrence. Young mature folks with parents or grandparents are welcome as a team as well as individuals. Camp St. Christopher will be blessed to have you as a volunteer.

Volunteer positions involve arriving 15 minutes before a meal is served, assisting with serving the meal (which is all done behind a screen in the kitchen) and then remaining to clear tables and reset for the next meal. Resetting often involves sweeping and mopping, particularly with youth groups on the large side dining room. For the evening meal, you will be needed from 5:45 p.m. until at least 7 p.m. possibly 8 p.m. depending upon the size of the group. You will be offered dinner in the midst of their service, typically after all are served, and prior to cleaning up.

Executive Director
St. Christopher Camp and Conference Center

Online Giving

Did you know giving online to St. John's just got easier. Instead of creating a giving account online you can simply process a pledge/gift as a Guest. You will be asked for your name and email address and payment information, that's it. You can access online giving from the website or the mobile app or click the 'Red Button' below; why not give it (no pun intended) a try.

Sunday, May 23
Almighty God, on this day, through the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, you revealed the way of eternal life to every race and nation: Pour out this gift anew, that by the preaching of the Gospel your salvation may reach to the ends of the earth; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen

For Persecuted Churches

We pray for persecuted churches around the world. For the month of May we pray for the nation of Libya. Heavenly Father, Christians and Christian churches in Libya are suffering due to radical Islamic persecution, human trafficking, and extreme violence. We pray for the Christian churches in Libya, despite the lack of freedom to worship, to remain steadfast in the face of martyrdom. Enliven their spirits by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Lord, in your mercy. Hear our prayer.
