PRAY for the Fathers at Charleston County Jail

We want to thank all of you who contributed Father's Day cards for the fathers at Charleston County Jail, whether store bought or handmade, or stopped after church to write on the cards that were available at the church. Thanks to Walt Miller for writing a word of encouragement on the church cards. Our goal was to get 200 cards but we ended up collecting 316! How awesome is that! We know that the cards will remind the men on Father's Day that Jesus loves them and they aren't forgotten. We did PART of what God called us to do in writing the cards BUT we still need to be praying….so please ask the Lord to soften the hearts of these fathers and for them to begin asking questions about who Jesus Christ is and how they can have a personal relationship with Him. We know God is always at work. God bless each of you for helping with this ministry!

Our Lady of Mercy Fundraiser

Over the past year, Our Lady of Mercy services have become even more needed to help our community thrive. During the Pandemic OLM has kept their doors open to help neighbors in need. OLM Food Pantries were, and still are, a source of relief and hope.

Supporters including St. John's Parishioners came together time after time to host drives, pick up food at the grocery store and make sure our Food Pantry shelves stayed stocked and ready for those in need. You all helped OLM stock their shelves so frequently, that they are now in need of new shelving.

OLM Food Pantry was built in the early 2000s, and after many years of helping the community with basic and emergency food resources, the shelves have seen their fair amount of wear and tear, and are now starting to break and buckle from the weight of the food so many count on.

OLM have started a "Help us Rebuild our Food Pantry" Facebook campaign with a goal of raising $2,000. This fundraiser concludes at the end of June, and they will hopefully install the new shelves in August! OLM are asking supporters, to donate on the Our Lady of Mercy website or directly to the Facebook fundraiser, spread the word or share the fundraiser on Facebook. Here are the links for the OLM fundraiser.

At St. John's

June 20
Lord of all power and might, the author and giver of all good things: Graft in our hearts the love of your Name, increase in us true religion, nourish us with all goodness, and bring forth in us the fruit of good works; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen

For Persecuted Churches

We pray for persecuted churches around the world. For the month of June we pray for the nation of Kenya. Heavenly Father, Christians and Christian churches in Kenya are suffering due to radical Islamic persecution, tribalism, corruption, organized crime, and violence. We pray for all Christians in Kenya to endure the pressures of all these persecutions. We pray for the Christian leaders to persevere through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Lord, in your mercy. Hear our prayer.
