Emergency Response Team Training July 10

After a disaster when our neighbors are hurting, we should be ready to be a community center. This is an opportunity for our Church to shine Christ's love, share the gospel and be a good neighbor.

We need everyone to help us no matter your skill level to hand out water and ice, provide first aid or help clean up. We are looking for those who are trained doctors, nurses, emergency responders, cooks, chainsaw operators as well as untrained individuals.

Join us in Walton Hall or online Saturday July 10, 9 a.m.-12 p.m. for disaster preparedness training to prepare for a disaster and learn how as a parish we can provide help, provided by St. John's Emergency Response Team and Servant's Heart Disaster Relief.

The program will be live streamed on Zoom. You can sign up for the Zoom meeting on the St. John's Website. We will provide you with a link and password to access the live Zoom meeting when you sign up. You will also be able to access the Zoom meeting through the St. John's Mobile App.

For those attending in person we ask that if you have not been vaccinated or are partially vaccinated to wear a mask for the protection of the community and if you are unwell to stay at home.

Calling all Ushers for August

If you are willing to be an usher again, or would like to be one, we are needing ushers in the church for August. Please contact Charles Wallace to sign up and for more information.

July 4 Veterans at Lieber Correctional

We will be delivering more than 100 cards to Veterans at Lieber Correctional to bring joy and encouragement. Please continue praying for these men and all men in correctional establishments for healing and that their hearts will be softened, and minds opened to the work and indwelling of the holy spirit in their lives.

Edisto River Property Retreat

Exciting News!! St. John's recently received a very generous donation from a member of our parish in the form of a retreat on the Edisto River near Cottageville, SC. We hope this property will provide a place for small groups, Bible studies, and families looking for a quiet getaway which is less than an hour from Johns Island. In the meantime, we want to build a team who can help with some yard work and light repairs on the property. Please let Sam Gervais know if you are interested in finding out more and helping the church use this exciting gift for the glory of God.

Our Lady of Mercy Fundraiser

OLM has now raised almost $10,000 to support the "Rebuild our Food Pantry" fundraiser through online and Facebook donations. OLM is able to upgrade to more substantial durable shelving units and to replace other items within their food programs that needed upgrading. THANK YOU!

Flowers were given to the glory of God and in loving memory of Jerry Harris and Charlene Reese
by Martha Harris.
St. John's Altar Flower Ministry designs new flower creations each week for Sunday services. Flowers are selected individually and prepared on Friday. The cost to dedicate flowers is $70 for two vases or $40 for one. Contact Sally Dixon (sdixon@stjohnsparish.net, 843-709-4894) to sign up for the Sunday of your choice.

Collect

July 4
Grant us, O Lord, we pray, the spirit to think and do always those things that are right, that we, who can do no good thing apart from you, may by you be enabled to live according to your will; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen

For Persecuted Churches

We pray for persecuted churches around the world. For the month of June we pray for the nation of Peru. Heavenly Father, Christians and Christian churches in Peru are suffering due to Covid-19, economic collapse, political corruption, and poverty. We pray for our brothers and sisters to endure, persevere, and thrive through the power and presence of the Holy Spirit. Lord, in your mercy. Hear our prayer.
