Update from our Partner Ministry

Our Lady of Mercy Community Outreach

For over 31 years, Our Lady of Mercy Community Outreach Services (OLMCOS) has been helping community members navigate life challenges. OLMCOS new strategic plan reinforces their focus on actively addressing evolving community needs, remaining community-centered and expands their role in influencing local systems to help create and sustain equitable and inclusive communities.

As of July 1, 2021, OLMCOS is
  • Expanding its service area to address the mass movement of people in need to more affordable parts of the Lowcountry that are outside of the current service area. Services will continue to be available to community members in need in Downtown Charleston as well as James, Johns and Wadmalaw Islands. In addition, Services will be expanded to the corridor spanning West Ashley to Edisto Island.
  • Eligibility requirements for those in need is expanded from 150% of the federal poverty level to 250%.
  • Basic dental services are now provided at our downtown location, Neighborhood House. This clinic will help fill the gap and complement other dental resources being offered in the downtown area.
  • Home Repair In partnership with Sea Island Habitat for Humanity, OLMCOS is providing much needed financial assistance to help community members complete critical home repair projects so that they have safe and efficient homes.
  • Employment Assistance programs are being expanded over the next three years to help those we serve reach their full potential in a long-term, sustainable way.
  • Financial Literacy: The Budgeting Education Program will transition to a full Financial Literacy program to teach progressive levels of money management that lead to a deeper and sustained achievement of stability in life.
  • OLMCOS will continue to offer Basic and emergency food, clothing and financial assistance for utilities and rent/mortgage, afterschool education programs, English as a Second Language (ESL), GED, OB/GYN care and dental care.
Visit for more information or contact OLM at 843.559.4109.

At St. John's

July 18
O God, you declare your almighty power chiefly in showing mercy and pity: Grant us the fullness of your grace, that we, running to obtain your promises, may become partakers of your heavenly treasure; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen

For Persecuted Churches

We pray for persecuted churches around the world. For the month of June we pray for the nation of Peru. Heavenly Father, Christians and Christian churches in Peru are suffering due to Covid-19, economic collapse, political corruption, and poverty. We pray for our brothers and sisters to endure, persevere, and thrive through the power and presence of the Holy Spirit. Lord, in your mercy. Hear our prayer.
