Operation Christmas Child 2021
140 boxes Donated to Operation Christmas Child
Thank you for your willingness to participate in this wonderful ministry through Samaritan’s Purse. The boxes were taken to a nearby church designated a collection site and from there, the boxes will be taken up to NC for processing. What excitement these children will have opening up their boxes filled with love by all of you! Bless you!
The Samaritan’s Purse website shares this information about what happens to boxes once they reach their destination country: "Local ministry partners distribute your gifts to children in their communities. After receiving shoebox gifts, many boys and girls are invited to enroll in The Greatest Journey, our 12-lesson discipleship program. Through the program, ministry partners are able to establish long-term, caring relationships with children and families, sharing the love of Jesus Christ.”
Please continue to pray throughout the Advent and Christmas seasons for hearts to be opened to the Gospel message. And once again, thank you for being such a loving and giving parish family!

We have an incredible opportunity to share the hope of Jesus Christ this Christmas with children all over the world and it begins with prayer and a shoebox of goodies! Once again, St. John’s Parish will be participating in Operation Christmas Child through Samaritan’s Purse. Children, even in remote countries, will not only receive a shoebox but will be given the opportunity to learn from Christians in their country about Jesus Christ. St. John’s has ordered 200 cardboard boxes and will be sharing them with all of you in hopes that you will want to be involved. This year, in addition to your being involved, we want you to involve your neighbors! Why don’t you pick up a box or two for yourself AND a couple of extras and see if friends in your neighborhood want to be involved. This is such a great activity for families and a wonderful way to show how St. John’s cares for people though our international outreach.
Cardboard shoeboxes will be available starting this Sunday, the 10th at the three worship services and inside Walton Hall and Guerry Hall until we run out! Inside each shoebox, you will find information with suggestions about what to pack in your shoebox and what not to pack, a trackable label for your box and information on the $9 cost of shipping each shoebox.
Below are many wonderful links that further explain how to pack your shoebox.
Collection weekend at St. John’s will be November 13 and 14. Saturday the 13th, we will receive shoeboxes outside of Walton Hall (building located behind the church and cemetery) from 9am to noon and on Sunday the 14th following our worship services at 8am, 9am and 10:30am. If you need to bring your shoebox earlier, you are certainly welcome to drop it off on the Operation Christmas Child table in Walton Hall each Sunday after worship or to the church office (building located next to the church) Monday to Wednesday from 9am to 4 pm and Sundays after the 10:30am service. Questions, contact Libby Puckette. Thank you in advance for helping share the Gospel and blessing children all over the world this Christmas season!
