What's Happening in Our Children's Ministry

What's Happening in Our Children's Ministry

We are off to a great start this new year!  Our children, from Pre-K though 5th grade, are learning about Jesus in His younger years and deepening their understanding of who He is and how much He loves us.  Over the past few weeks, lessons have included the visit of the Wise Men, Jesus teaching in the temple as a young boy and Jesus’ baptism by His cousin, John the Baptist.  This coming week, the children will learn about Jesus calling His disciples to be his helpers.  We will learn how they listened and obeyed when Jesus called them saying, “Come, follow me” --Matthew 4:19.   We are grateful for our teachers and volunteers who deliver His message to our children every Sunday morning and for the continued support of our parish families.

Celebrating the Ministry of Ann Edenfield

We are so grateful for Ann who has always given so much of herself to domestic outreach and foreign missions. Her ability to minister from the heart and in more than one language has blessed many in our church and far beyond. When we witness her work with God’s people, we are amazed at her ability to communicate His love in her kind and authentic way.

His truth and goodness shine through you, Ann. We are grateful for all you do.

Ushers

Ushers

Ushers serve an important role in the life of St. John’s Parish Church on Sundays and other special services.  They greet everyone as they enter the sanctuary, hand out bulletins and other papers as needed.  They also assist newcomers to find their way - whether to find a place to sit, locate the nursery or maybe find the restroom.  Ushers also help to collect the offering and present it at the altar.  When it is time to receive communion, they help the congregation know when it is the proper time to come forward.  Another very important role of an usher is to count attendance at worship services.  If you would like to find out more about being an usher, please contact Sally Dixon.

A Prayer for our Parish

Dear Heavenly Father,

Together we are united with the saints of the household of God; built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Jesus Christ himself being the cornerstone. In Christ alone our church is being joined together, and is growing into a holy temple of the Lord by the Spirit. By Your wisdom may we discern what You want us to build; Through Jesus Christ our Lord and the power of the Holy Spirit,

Amen.
