"Let the children come to Me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.” Mark 10:14
Each November St. John’s Parish Church partners with Samaritan’s Purse by participating in Operation Christmas Child. Parishioners donate shoe boxes filled with toiletries, school supplies and toys for needy children outside of the US in order to share the love of Jesus Christ. Samaritan’s Purse identifies new communities which have never received shoe boxes in the past. Each shoe box recipient is given the opportunity to go through a 12 lesson program called The Greatest Journey where the Gospel message is shared by Christian leaders in their community. Parishioners are encouraged to pray for children receiving the shoe boxes and their families throughout the year. Cardboard boxes are provided starting in October along with an instructional brochure. Boxes are collected at the church on the second Sunday in November. This is a wonderful outreach opportunity for children as well as adults.
