Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters. Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it. Continue to remember those in prison as if you were together with them in prison, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering. Hebrews 13:1-3
St. John’s Parish Church has a special partnership with the Charleston County Youth Detention Center. The parish ministers to the youth through prayer, cards and gift bags of toiletries and snacks throughout the year. St. John’s parishioners provide cards with personal notes sharing God’s love, hope and encouragement. St. John’s also addresses special needs for the Detention Center as they arise such as the donation of a basketball goal and implementing a seedling/plant program. The prison ministry also works with the community to meet requests for cards and toiletries for the local adult prisons. As opportunities arise throughout the year for collections, parishioners will be notified of the need for donations through announcements and in the ENEWS.
