Sailing Opportunity
For a number of years, Sam Gervais has been facilitating a Junkfish regatta. This year, it will be held at the Sea Island Yacht Club in Rockville starting at noon, this Saturday, April 20. Several parishioners of St. John's Parish Church are bringing boats, so members can come sailing. Experienced sailors may borrow a boat, beginners can ride with an experienced sailor. Later in the day, we hope to take out the larger sailboats to allow those who may not be comfortable in a small rig to get on the water. Please contact Sam Gervais or Stephen Haynsworth if you want to come. For more infomation visit: http://stjohnsparishchurch.com/events/sailing-opportunity/2024-04-20 |

2024 Anglican Women Gathering
Come to this year’s Anglican Women Gathering and learn how your daily diversions may be pointing to a deeper longing in your soul. Our speaker, Joy Mast, author of Set Free & Satisfied: A Grace-Filled Guide to Stop Overeating and Start Fully Living, will share how her compulsive overeating led to a profound encounter with God, and how you can experience this intimacy as well. You’ll learn how to identify your own patterns of seeking comfort apart from God, why God is the one who offers us true, long-term satisfaction, and how to replace your bad habits with life-giving moments that refresh and sustain your soul. Ministry of the Week
Kairos Prison MinistryThe mission of the Kairos Prison Ministry is to bring Christ’s love and forgiveness to all incarcerated individuals, their families and those who work with them, and to assist in the transition of becoming productive citizens. For inmates in the Kairos program, the recidivism rate is less than half. One of the many demonstrations of love offered is an outpouring of cookies. 5,000 DOZEN cookies are distributed to the 1,500 prison residents, correctional officers and administrative staff. Included in each bag of cookies is a scripture message. Homemade cookies are a tangible and vital expression of Christ’s love and witness from the outside Christian Community. |

A Prayer for our Parish
Dear Heavenly Father, Together we are united with the saints of the household of God; built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Jesus Christ himself being the cornerstone. In Christ alone our church is being joined together, and is growing into a holy temple of the Lord by the Spirit. By Your wisdom may we discern what You want us to build; Through Jesus Christ our Lord and the power of the Holy Spirit, Amen. |
