Our faith is in the Lord Jesus Christ as King of Kings and Lord of Lords (John 3:13-17; Philippians 2:5-11). Jesus is the only way, the truth and the life, and no one may come to the Father but through Him (John 14:5-6; Acts 4:2; 1 Timothy 2:5-6). We believe that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:9-23).
St. John’s Parish Church is a part of the Anglican Diocese of South Carolina and of the Anglican Church in North America. Internationally we are affiliated with the Global Anglican Futures Conference (GAFCON).
We believe that salvation comes only through the grace of God by faith in Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:1-9).
We affirm the Statement of Faith as adopted by the Standing Committee of the Anglican Diocese of South Carolina October 6, 2015.
We believe that God is one divine being who exists in three persons — God the Father, Creator; Jesus the Son, Redeemer; and God the Holy Spirit, Sustainer. The Holy Trinity is co-eternal, co-existent, and co-equal (Matthew 3:16-17; John 15:26). Athanasian Creed.
We believe in the authority of Holy Scripture as the written word of God (2 Timothy 3:16-17). The 66 books of the Old and New Testaments contain all things necessary for salvation.
We confess Baptism and the Holy Eucharist to be Sacraments ordained by Christ Himself (Matthew 28:19-20; Luke 22:14-20; John 6:52-58; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26).
We affirm the Anglican distinctives of, The Book of Common Prayer (2019 and 1662), the 39 Articles of Religion The historic Creeds (Nicene, Apostles’, and Athanasian), and the Jerusalem Declaration.
A Prayer for God’s Love
Almighty God, you so loved the world that you gave your only Son, that whoever believes in him would not perish but have eternal life: Pour into our hearts that most excellent gift of love by your Holy Spirit, that we may delight in the inheritance that is ours as your sons and daughters, and live to your praise and glory, through Jesus Christ. Amen.
